Volcanic eruption report

This is Brenlyn Ng from Italy writing about a recent
volcanic eruption. In 5th April 2003, there has been
a major volcanic eruption in Mount Stromboli.Mount
Stromboli has been active with eruptions that have
been always major. It is located at Aeolian Island, north
of Italy.

Stromboli is one of the most active volcanoes,
erupting almost non- stop for the past 2000 years.
The volcano derived its name of a corrupted ancient
Greek term which was used for the island Strongule.
The volcanic mountain is situated 924m above sea
level but it is more than 2000m high measured from
the seafloor. The magnitude of the eruption is calculated
as 108 N. As a result, some houses has been destroyed
in the ginostra village. One of the eruptions of Mount
Stromboli had even killed several people.
Stromboli is part of the Calabrian volcanic arc so
the volcanoes of the Calabrian arc are associated with
the African tectonic plate under the Eurasian plate.
I believe that nothing can be done to prevent
the eruptions of volcanoes.Instead, the villagers
should move out of the area as their lives might be at
risk. Like that, they would not live in fear and less lives
would be lost.
